Heart of Chechnya Mosque (Akhmad Kadyrov Mosque)
One of the largest mosques in Europe, located in central Grozny on the banks of the Sunzha River. Built in the classical Ottoman style.
Architecture
- Accommodates up to 10,000 worshippers.
- 4 minarets, each 63 meters tall.
- Main dome is 32 meters in diameter.
Interior
The interior is adorned with white marble from Turkey. 36 chandeliers are shaped like the mosques of Jerusalem, Medina and Istanbul. The gold-painted main dome is especially impressive.
Best time to visit — Friday prayer (Jumu'ah), when the mosque fills with worshippers.
How to visit
- Dress code: long clothing, headscarves for women.
- Remove shoes at the entrance.
- Do not photograph worshippers.
