Chechen Wedding: Customs and Stages
Chechen Wedding
A Chechen wedding is a multi-day event consisting of dozens of rituals.
Stages
1. Matchmaking (mirza day)
The groom's side sends respected elders to the bride's house. Consent is given not immediately — usually after several visits.

Marriage under Sharia norms. Signing of the marriage contract and determining the mahr — the mandatory gift from groom to bride.
3. Bringing the bride (nus yikhar)
The brightest day. A column of cars goes for the bride. Along the way — firing in the air (symbolic), horns, dancing.
4. Wedding evening (lovzar)
- Dances — lezginka and national dances
- Concert of folk performers
- Gifts from relatives
